Jess BenhabibJess Benhabib (born 1948) is Professor at New York University (NYU) and research associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research. He earned his PhD from Columbia University (1976) and started his teaching career as an assistant professor at University of Southern California, before joining NYU where he remained ever since. Between 1984 and 1987 he served as Chairman of the Economics Department at NYU.
He has a long record of scientific publications in the most prestigious economic journals – for instance The Review of Economic Studies, the American Economic Review, Econometrica, the Journal of Political Economy, the Journal of Economic Literature and the Journal of Economic Theory. His research focuses on growth theory and macro-dynamics.
His past and present editorial responsibilities include the Journal of Economic Theory, Economic Theory, the Journal of Economic Dynamics and Control, the Journal of Economic Growth and the Japanese Economic Review.  

Noticeable scientific distinctions:  Prof. Benhabib is a fellow of the Econometric Society and Doctor Honoris Causa from Aix-Marseille University.
